Summary/objectiveJob Description The Corporate and Foundation Relations Coordinator will be responsible for solicitation of philanthropic support from corporations and foundations for projects identified by the academic and administrative leadership of the College. In carrying out this objective, the individual will be responsible for developing and implementing a solicitation strategy that includes prospect identification, cultivation, proposal writing and stewardship. The individual must have excellent communication and presentation skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. While an integral part of the Advancement team, this individual must be self-motivated, goal-driven, and able to work with a high degree of independence.

  • Builds the corporate and foundation solicitation program to achieve on-going growth in both current and future commitments of support. This includes developing both long-term solicitation strategies and an effective stewardship effort to maintain support from existing donors.
  • Works closely with other staff and faculty to develop funding proposals and carry out all the documentation required by prospective funders. Reviews all proposal budgets with the Business Office.
  • Collaborates with the Office of Sponsored Programs to identify funding opportunities.
  • Identifies prospects for funding of the College’s highest priorities through research and networking.
  • Develops and writes proposals to match College needs and priorities with appropriate funding sources. Candidate must also possess competence in persuasive proposal writing.
  • Develops and maintains professional relationships with corporate and foundation program officers before, during and after grant cycles. Manages the timely reporting of progress and evaluation of all grant-funded programs. May conduct routine visits to program officers.
  • Uses software such as Foundation Directory Online subscription to identify potential organizations whose mission, history, and funding priorities align with College needs.
  • Maintains ongoing grant calendar to alert IA staff on upcoming grant opportunities and stewardship reports.
  • Tracks all activity in Raiser’s Edge, including proposals, visits, and phone calls. Runs reports for specific campaigns to track status of proposals.

  • Strong organizational skills for meeting strict deadlines.
  • Ability to execute online research, often looking into historical government documents, news articles, and other sources to identify funding priorities and connections with organizations.

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Five-years prior experience in proposal writing and/or fundraising in a college or university setting.
