Newark Educators Community Charter School is Hiring a Food Service Assistant - Part Time Near Newark, NJ
Food Services Assistant
The Food Services Assistant supports all aspects of the Food and Nutrition operation. In the absence of the Food Services Coordinator, this team member oversees the operation for the day.
Specific Responsibilities
- Prepare meals and plating food as needed for lunch times .
- Prepare simple meals such as salads or desserts.
- Help the Food Services Coordinator with food preparation duties for the day by cutting, peeling, or slicing as needed.
- Greet and take customer orders, remember special requests.
- Ensure food is prepared and ready to be served in a timely manner.
- Demonstrate a positive demeanor when interacting with students and staff.
- Assist with maintaining the food preparation area clean. Activities include picking up trash, clearing and washing food preparation tools, and wiping down counters and tables as needed.
- Adhere to food safety standards at all times, making sure that all food is free or contaminants and pathogens that might make customers sick.
Job Qualifications:
- High school degree or GRE
- Ability to walk or stand for long periods of time
- Knowledge of kitchen sanitation, cleaning, and maintenance
REPORTS TO & EVALUATED BY: Operations Manager
Employment Status: This is a part-time, ten month year, at-will position.
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $23,000.00 per year
Expected hours: 20 per week

- High school or equivalent (Required)
