Job Summary:
Assures development and maintenance of financial accounting systems for the parish (school and cemetery where applicable). Includes responsibility for payroll processing, AR, AP, contributions monthly reports, and directing the budgeting process. May be responsible for HR functions. Communicates financial information to Pastor or Parish Director and Finance Council.
Bookkeeping:
- Operates computer accounting software to record, store, and analyze
- Maintains an accurate filing, payment schedule, record keeping, and reporting system for financial matters
- Process and prepares accounts payable on a weekly basis
- Maintenance/reconciliation of all bank accounts and investments
-Record deposits and expenditures
Payroll:
- Processes payroll accurately and on time
- Serve as a local resource for employee questions
Reporting and Budget:
-Prepares monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports for Pastor, meetings and Archdiocese, as requested. Reports typically include a listing of all checks written during the month, balance sheet, income statement, year-to-date balances, or special financial circumstances, as requested
- Completes DPI
Other:
- Submits request for and retain records of licensed raffles
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of basic accounting/bookkeeping
- Working knowledge and experience in office procedures and the use of Excel/QuickBooks, MS Word
- Ability to work with staff and volunteers in a professional manner
- Ability to understand the Catholic Church mission
- Attention to detail
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
