POSITION SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Business Development
· Develop and implement business development standard procedures in conjunction with President.
· Source initial and follow-up contacts with new potential MBC clients as directed by President and through self-generated leads.
· Maintain accurate and current project description sheets and spreadsheets listing project pipeline, status, and award dates.
· Work with potential and new clients to help define their program, present alternate concepts and construction methodologies, describe alternative delivery systems, and define the overall scope of their projects.
· Prepare written proposals and as required, “speculative” preliminary design drawings, coordinate the preparation of budget estimates with the Senior Staff and the General Manager, and create presentations to potential clients, working in conjunction with the Director of Marketing.
· Attend public meetings and hearings as required to obtain necessary project approvals from governmental and regulatory officials.
· Assist potential and new clients in obtaining sources for project funding.
· Identify growth sectors and research key players and industry leaders in these sectors.
· Develop strategic business development plans.
· Develop new market niches and prepare and send mailings to niche-specific lists of prospects.
· Attend professional seminars regarding sales, project delivery systems, and liability issues; share pertinent highlights with staff.
· Assist with additional projects, duties, and tasks as assigned.
Training/Mentoring Sessions
· Manage Business Development staff.
· Prepare and administer Business Development training/mentoring sessions for staff.
· Review staff progress against stated goals and objectives and provide guidance for improvement.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
Knowledge Required: Understanding of the construction industry, strong negotiation and relationship skills.
Experience Required: Minimum 20 years of experience in the design, development and construction industry, with 10 years in a management capacity.
Skills/Abilities: Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills; the ability to effectively communicate with people in all levels of an organization. Must possess a combination of technical expertise and business acumen. Must be familiar with various project delivery models.
