We are a dynamic and growing practice that serves patients in the Bay Area. We are accepting resumes for full-time Medical billers at our downtown Berkeley location.

Summary

Generate revenue by making payment arrangements; collecting accounts; monitoring and pursuing delinquent accounts. This position also assists other staff as needed and provides administrative support to the Billing Supervisor.

  • Respond to all office correspondence in relation to your specific role and assigned physician.
  • Make phone calls to patients, physicians, and insurance/billing companies.
  • Check and respond to voicemails on your assigned day. Answer the phone on your assigned time/day.
  • Daily/hourly check email. Create and respond to emails from managers, coworkers, physicians, and insurance/billing companies in a timely manner.
  • Enter accurate patient demographics.
  • Verify insurance coverage and benefits for mental health.
  • Generate, audit and process IP claims via the Claims queue. Verify Eligibility prior to generation of claim. Transmit claims.
  • Generate and work on rejected claims.
  • Utilize EPIC when printing encounter/chart notes and as audit tool for insurance and patient demographic.
  • Rebill claims as needed due to new insurance or carrier did not receive.
  • Obtain authorizations as needed including retro authorizations.
  • Collect, post, and manage patient account payments.
  • Review delinquent accounts and call (as directed) for collection purposes.
  • Monthly In-Person/Zoom Meetings when requested by assigned physician to go over their aging/AR.
  • Maintains strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.
  • Know several different coding systems, including Level 1 HCPCS and Level 2 HCPCS, CPT Codes and ICD-10 Codes.

Salary: $25-27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
