The Winthrop Elementary School is searching for a 1.0 FTE School Social Worker/Adjustment Counselor to provide counseling services and interventions to our PreK-Grade 5 school community for the 2024-2025 School Year. This is a one year position.Responsibilities include: - Plan, organize and deliver a comprehensive school counseling program based upon the developmental and individual needs of students and in collaboration with faculty, staff and administration.- Deliver counseling services through direct classroom instruction, interdisciplinary curriculum, group activities, individual or small group assessment of conflict or issues, and advisement, consultation, individual and small group counseling, crisis counseling/response and peer facilitation.- Coordinate and facilitate many functions of the school operations to support the schools culture.- Collaborate with parents/guardians, teachers, administrators and other educational specialists to develop academic, and personal/social skills for all students.- Provide leadership, intervention and support when crisis counseling is appropriate.- Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.- Provide support to administration and classroom teachers around behavioral and emotional needs of students and families.- Offer support groups to students as needs are identified.- Perform other such duties as may be required by the Principal or his/her designee.- Oversight on the school level for the district anti-bullying program.- Collaborate with Winthrop and district Adjustment Counselors.
