Argus Community, Inc. is Hiring an Evening Group Facilitator Near Bronx, NY

Position/Title: Group Facilitator

Reports to: Shift Supervisor for CDTP

Coordinates Closely with: Program Director for CDTP

Position Summary:

The Group Facilitator is responsible for conducting group therapy sessions. This includes ensuring that all groups assigned to them start and finish at scheduled times.

The Group Facilitator must demonstrate strong leadership skills in enforcing the rules and regulations that govern the program. He or She must be well organized, detailed oriented, reliable, and always conduct His or Herself in a professional manner. The individual's conduct must enhance the promotion and support of the client's daily growth.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1. Adhering to the established protocol for facilitating the group as directed by his/her supervisor.

2. Monitoring the clients’ behaviors and reporting to the supervisor on duty any disruptive behaviors or psychiatric symptoms.

3. Utilizing de-escalation skills as needed to maintain group cohesiveness and informing the supervisor on duty immediately if the conflict is not resolved.

4. Immediately informing the supervisor on duty of any medical or psychiatric emergency that arises during group therapy.

5. Documenting clients’ participation adequately on group sign-in sheet, as directed by his/her supervisor and submitting the completed group sign-in immediately after the group is finished.

6. Obtaining appropriate group handouts for each group and obtaining assistance from the supervisor on duty if he/she has difficulty locating an appropriate handout.

7. Reviewing group rules at the beginning of each group and informing clients when they are not adhering to the group rules and informing the supervisor on duty when client is not adherent to the group rules.

8. Confirming that all clients who signed the group sign-in sheet are present and to speak with the supervisor on duty to inquire the whereabouts of any absent clients.

9. Utilizing group therapy models as applicable to the assigned group topic.

10. Obtaining approval from the supervisor on duty prior to changing the assigned group topic.

11. Attending onsite and offsite meetings as required by the Program Director and/or Executive Staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1) Must have a High School Diploma / GED. College degree preferred.

2) Must have at least three years related experience and functional knowledge of OMH.

3) Must be well organized, have good communication, writing and problem solving skills.

Physical and Cognitive Functions

1) Must be able to walk up stairs.

2) Must be able to travel independently within the city.

3) Must be able to sit approximately six (6) hours.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $26,000.00 per year

Expected hours: 20 per week
