Position Profile

The Kitchen Assistant works in the kitchen and prepares and serves food under the direction of the Food Service Director. The Kitchen Assistant handles the cooking, serving, and cleaning that is necessary to operate an efficient daily food service operation.

General Responsibilities

• Assist in food preparation under the guidance of kitchen staff
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen work areas
• Wash, peel, and chop ingredients as needed
• Assist with receiving and storing deliveries
• Support kitchen staff during service hours
• Follow food safety guidelines at all times
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Administration

• Reports to the Food Service Director

Personal Characteristics and Skills of Applicant

• Be able to work well with administration, faculty, and staff.
• Able to communicate effectively.
• Experience in school or restaurant operations is desirable.

Qualifications

• Must be a born-again Christian and subscribe to the Statement of Faith of Oakland Christian School.
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
• Strong attention to detail.
• At least one year work experience preferred

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $13.50 - $14.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week
