Abbeville General Hospital is hiring for a Credentialing Specialist: Full time Credentialing Specialist for the Performance Improvement department for Day Shift (8:00a-4:30p)

Credentialing Specialist position summary:

  • The applicant will be responsible for completing all aspects of the credentialing process for the Medical Staff.
  • Ensuring that medical staff members’ maintain current credentials and licenses to work legally in their field or specialty
  • Monitoring of upcoming renewal dates
  • Working with medical staff to advise them of the required steps to maintain their credentials
  • Maintaining compliance with all regulatory and accrediting institutions

Credentialing Specialist required experience:

  • Minimum of three years of diversified clerical and secretarial office experience
  • Medical Staff credentialing experience preferred

Credentialing Specialist educational requirements:

  • Associate degree or higher preferred
  • Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) certification through the National Association Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) preferred, required within 1 year of employment

Credentialing Specialist physical requirements:

  • Medium work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor constitutes a maximum lift of 21-50 pounds on occasion and/or a maximum lift of 11-25 pounds on a frequent basis.
  • May be required to assist in the turning, lifting, or moving of patients as well as walking about from patients' rooms, as well as to and from various hospital areas
