Location: Pine-Richland High School
Stipend: TBD based on contract negotiations (Stipend rate was $8,155 for 2023-24 school year)SummaryOrganizes and directs the marching and concert bands, providing instruction and leadership to develop a high quality performing organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
  • Maintain student records.
  • Maintain inventory of all music and instruments.
  • Coordinate the purchase of necessary equipment and materials.
  • Schedule and conduct performances.
  • Arrange elections for and assist student officers of the organization.
  • Organize and direct participation in at least two major concerts.
  • Develop, organize and supervise band camp and annual trip.
  • Organize, plan, schedule and direct marching band practices and performances.
  • Organize and direct performances at school activities as needed.
  • Assist students to tryout for and participate in district, regional and state festivals.
  • Coordinate the band’s participation in community events, such as parades or festivals.
  • Articulate and promote program with feeder elementary and middle schools.
  • Monitor and supervise band accounts.
  • Assist students to organize and oversee fund raising activities in accordance with school and district policies.
  • Supervise students during activities and provide for chaperons as needed.
  • Maintain student discipline in accordance with the student Code of Conduct.
  • Coordinate the activities of the band patrons.
  • Maintain two-way communications with parents of participants as needed.
  • Prepare and submit end-of-year summary to the high school principal.
Supervisory ResponsibilitiesSupervises students participating in this program. Directs activities of any program volunteers.

Language SkillsAbility to read and interpret documents such as rules, operating or procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Mathematical SkillsAbility to guide appropriate record keeping of student accounts related to program.
Computer SkillsBasic computer skills in word processing and database are helpful.
OTHER SKILLS And ABILITIESExhibit qualities of leadership and organizational ability and reflect a spirit of cooperation in working with staff and school administration. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

The employee must be able to communicate to the students in order to give directions.
