The Opportunity:

The Pressroom Supervisor is a first-line leadership position responsible for the operation of the Pressroom. This position plans, organizes and monitors production and maintenance on the presses and related equipment. The Pressroom Supervisor is also responsible for leading the pressroom team to produce high volumes of lottery tickets in accordance with Pollard Banknote’s production targets, quality standards and specifications for each game.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hire, train, schedule and support pressroom employees
  • Utilize supportive management style and strong leadership skills to foster team building, build trust and resolve conflicts
  • Ensures ink inventories and other supplies are maintained at proper levels
  • Provide communication, conflict resolution, and discipline as required
  • Coaches individual and team performance of employees
  • Manage department payroll, scheduling, attendance and time off requests
  • Ensure that products are manufactured in accordance to game specifications and quality standards
  • Troubleshoot printing and production related problems
  • Ensure production targets are met, maximizing uptime and minimizing waste
  • Understand detailed game specifications and communicate requirements to the pressroom employees
  • Ensure proposed designs are compatible with manufacturing processes
  • Ensure optimal equipment performance through proper set-up, operation and preventative maintenance
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure preventative maintenance schedules are met
  • Ensure equipment and work area are kept clean and organized
  • Ensure that pressroom employees perform their duties in a safe and ergonomically sound manner and adhere to all company established procedures and policies with respect to operation, health & safety, and security

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Related post-secondary education and a minimum of 5 -10 years Manufacturing Supervisory experience
  • Lean Manufacturing (5 Why analysis) and project management experience
  • Experience working in multi-color print format
  • Color management experience, e.g. full color process printing
  • Experience with web fed flexographic printing operations and digital printing experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with emphasis on team-building
  • Knowledge of progressive health and safety practices, business and management principles, and structured problem-solving methodologies
  • Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Experience using a payroll system, such as Kronos is an asset
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. sit, stand and walk for periods of time
