Description

The candidate can expect to teach a broad range of theory and skills-based court reporting courses determined by the evolving needs of the department. The typical load is six classes each eight-week term, five days a week. Additional teaching opportunities available for the eight-week summer session. Experience teaching diverse students at various levels of college-preparedness and non-traditional students is highly desirable. The Court Reporting program is housed at the Oak Forest Campus of South Suburban College.
Typical Qualifications

• Licensed Certified Shorthand Reporter
• Associate degree in Court Reporting from a National Court Reporters Association approved institution.
• Knowledge of industry-related software and systems.
• Previous teaching experience in higher education.
• Commitment to earning the Certified Reporter Instructor certification through NCRA.
• Commitment to teaching a student body diverse in ability, age, ethnicity, race, and sexual orientation.
• Must successfully pass a criminal background investigation.

Supplemental Information

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Registered Professional Reporter or a B.A. in a related field, with knowledge of machine shorthand.
• Certified Reporter Instructor certification through NCRA.
• Experience with a variety of instructional delivery modes and learning management systems.
• Program coordinator experience.
• Knowledge of Case CATalyst and Realtime Coach software.
• Experience developing and dictating materials across all court reporting disciplines.
• Experience with outcomes assessment, data collection, and analysis.

STATUS/SALARY:
This is a regular tenured full-time faculty position with salary to be determined by placement on the faculty salary schedule commensurate with education and experience.
