This position is part-time weekend only coverage. Shift is every Saturday and Sunday, 9am-5pm.
JOB SUMMARY
Enforce animal and rabies control ordinances and licensing regulations within the municipality. Animal control officers are responsible for capturing and impounding dangerous or stray animals, investigating cases of animal cruelty, enforcing City and State Laws, providing expert testimony in court cases, rescuing trapped animals, writing incident reports and providing humane care to animals under their supervision.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Special Requirements:
Must be 18 years of age. Possession of a valid class "C" Texas driver's license with good driving history. Must complete Animal Control Officer certification course within 1-year of hire.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is heavy and requires the ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally with assistance, up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force consistently to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, reaching, repetitive motions, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity and walking.
