Position Summary
The Purchasing Assistant, in conjunction with the purchasing team, will work to maintain the inventory levels required for effective company operation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Includes the following: (other duties may be assigned):
1. Responsible for providing status updates to members.
2. Reviews open order reports daily and follows up on ordering issues
3. Assists with resolving invoice discrepancies in a timely manner
4. Responsible for confirming orders, price and availability with vendor within 24 hours of receiving order
5. Working within a DMS application, creates purchase orders both manually and from requisition worksheets
6. Provides clerical and backup support for the purchasing department
7. Place orders with vendors via EDI, Fax, and/or phone
8. Maintains strong working relationships with vendors
9. Follows up on orders to ensure that materials are shipped and delivered on promised dates.

Education and/or Experience, skills and Abilities
· High school diploma required, Associate degree or higher preferred.
· 2 years’ experience in a purchasing role
· Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
· Strong attention to detail
· Excellent communication and negotiation skills
· Ability to meet multiple competing deadlines
· Ability to work independently with little direction
