The Dining Services Department at Salisbury University is accepting applications for Food Service Assistant (Part-Time Contingent I) positions in Dining Services in an effort to maintain a pool of applicants for future openings.

Primary Job Duties : Provide routine assistance in the preparation and serving of food; set up and break down service lines;

cashiering; maintain safe and sanitary conditions; operate and maintain kitchen equipment such as grills, fryers, ovens, mixers, toasters, etc.

consistently demonstrates excellent customer service skills to all internal and external customers and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications : Serve Safe or Food Handler and / or Sanitation Certification required by the end of the first contract period / semester.

• Ability to assist in preparing and serving food; to read and write; to perform basic arithmetic computations; to operate food service equipment and appliances;
• to use kitchen utensils; to work in irritating environments and adverse temperature conditions; to follow oral and written instructions;

Preferred Qualifications : One year food service experience; High School Diploma or equivalent.

These are part-time (19 hour) non-exempt contingent positions with no benefits. Salary is up to $15 per hour. Working periods include late-August through mid-December and late-January through late-May;

work schedules within these periods will vary based upon the needs of the University.
