Wilson County Schools is Hiring an English Language Arts Coordinator Near Lebanon, TN

JOB GOALThe Reading Language Arts /English Coordinator will work with and support elementary, middle,
and high school English/Language Arts teachers by providing embedded and real-time professional
development to improve student yearly progress.
QualificationsHolds a valid Tennessee teacher's license (preferably in English); Has a minimum of a master's
degree (preferably in Curriculum and Instruction or Administration/Supervision); Has a minimum of
5 years teaching experience; and Meets health and physical requirements.

SCHEDULE 260 Day
Essential Functions
  • Encourage and support teachers and staff members in their efforts to provide
research-based instruction using data analysis in order to drive reading / English instruction.
  • Provide teachers support to implement various instructional practices and strategies.
  • Increase the teacher’s implementation of Differentiated Instruction to fully challenge all
levels of students.
  • Model effective teaching practices and how particular math content material is taught to
elementary, middle, and high school students.
  • Provide reading/English Language Arts content knowledge to teachers as needed.
  • Assess common needs across the county for K-12 reading/English teachers.
  • Monitor the pacing of the K-12 math curriculum and make suggestions for improvement.
  • Analyze available data to assess student’s knowledge gaps.
  • Assist with the development of common formative assessments.
  • Provide/submit required local reports to Central Office.
  • Attend appropriate professional development sessions.
  • Organize and/or provide staff development sessions.
  • Attend scheduled meetings with district staff.
  • Ensure effective communication with teachers, principals, and central office staff.
  • Attends work regularly and on time.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDSThis job may require lifting or carrying of objects that exceed fifty (50) pounds, with frequent lifting
and/or carrying of objects weighing up to twenty-five (25) pounds. Other physical demands that
may be required are as follows: pushing and/or pulling, stooping and/or kneeling, reaching and/or
handling, talking, hearing, seeing, and climbing.
