Blue Star Gas is Hiring a Fuel Transport Driver Near Merlin, OR

Over the years, we have been recognized as an industry leader in residential, commercial and industrial propane supply and related infrastructure. Today we currently operate 15 locations, six in California, six in Oregon, one in Washington, one in Utah and our newest location in Arizona. With these 15 locations we cover over 65,000 square miles through five western states.

Job Summary:

The Class A Transport Driver operates a propane tanker truck to pick up propane at the supply point (e.g. refinery, rail terminal, storage facility) and delivers to company owned facilities within the terminal sphere. The driver will typically make 2-5 pick-ups and deliveries per day, driving an average of 200-500 miles per day.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and inspect tractor & trailer to DOT specifications (DVIR)
  • Drive the tanker truck to pick up propane at the refinery and/or terminal and deliver to company facilities; approximately 1-5 hours away (depending on location) to unload the truck.
  • Attach terminal hoses to the truck connections to pump propane into the tanker.
  • Use permanent hoses attached to the filling ports or the hoses stored in the truck to unload the tanker. The hoses stored on the truck or at the terminal facility typically come in two sizes: 20 feet long, three inches in diameter; and 19 feet long, 1½ inches in diameter.
  • May climb ladders at some company facilities to check gauges at the top of the bulk tanks.
  • Required to manage & maintain delivery/pick up of inventory information and shipping logs.
  • Must be able to perform basic mathematical operations
  • Must be computer literate and able to navigate on-board truck systems with training
  • The successful candidate must be able to work unsupervised and have the ability to communicate with management and interact with customers
  • Job requires occasional overnight stays

· Must be flexible with work hours and available to work irregular hours, such as nights and weekends.

Education and Experience Required:

  • 3 Years OTR (over the road) tractor and trailer experience.
  • Have operated a Class A unit a minimum of 500,000 miles
  • 1-year tanker experience within the last 3 years, preferred
  • Must have hazmat, air brake and tanker endorsements
  • Ability to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC)
  • No Accidents in the Previous 5 years
  • No More Than One Moving Violation in the Previous 3 years

· Environmental conditions at times such as rain, mud, ice, snow, and uneven terrain will and/or may affect this job.

The position is full-time and year-round which includes excellent pay, medical/dental benefits, and voluntary vision plan and retirement package with employer contribution.
