The University of Maine at Farmington (UMF) and the College of Education, Health, and Rehabilitation invites applicants for part-time faculty positions to teach both introductory and upper-level Elementary Education courses for our Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 Semesters (September 2024 – May 2025). Due to the increasing demand for required teacher certification courses and the growth of UMF's degree completion program, we are seeking individuals with proven expertise in one or more of the following areas of education: Diversity Issues in Elementary Education and subject area methods courses at the elementary level, such as science, social studies, language arts, reading, and writing.

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to lesson planning, assignment design, grading, office hours, correspondence with students, course coordination meetings with the Division Chair and other faculty members, and required orientation and training. Positions typically require teaching in person on campus.

Part-time faculty members are paid on a credit hour basis based upon prior teaching experience, in accordance with the Maine Part-Time Faculty Association (PATFA contract). Part-time, temporary faculty members may be rehired in subsequent semesters based on course availability, schedule, funding, and performance. Continuation is subject to the terms of the PATFA bargaining agreement and other applicable College and University policies.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s, PhD or EdD in Education or related field.
  • A minimum of two (2) years experience in PK-12 settings as a teacher.
  • Experience teaching online and/or hybrid modalities.
