SALARY: $46,189, with subsequent increases to $57,73

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The work involves responsibility for performing technical and mechanical
tasks to ensure the integrity of water and wastewater utilities located near construction projects including
water and wastewater installations and repairs. The incumbent locates and marks out the location of wa-
ter and wastewater systems, identifies uncovered pipes and lines, inspects new installations, records new
information relative to the installations and repairs and updates water and wastewater maps and records.
The work is performed under the general supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Public Works
(Water and Sewer) with leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgment in carrying out the de-
tails of the work. Does related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency
diploma and three (3) years of full-time paid experience, or its part-time paid equivalent, as a plumbers
helper or in the installation or repair of a water or wastewater system.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Possession of a valid NYS Class D driver license or a valid driver license
equivalent to a NYS Class D driver license at the time of appointment and maintenance of said license for
the duration of employment.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS: There are no residency requirements for this position.
APPOINTMENT STATUS AND EXAM REQUIREMENT: This will be a provisional appointment pending
the results of a civil service examination to be scheduled at a later date. Permanent appointment will be
dependent upon the candidate's exam score.
