Primary Duties:

This position reports to Director of Laboratory and is responsible for maintaining supplies and cleanliness of the Laboratory Department. Transports patients to and from Lab. Participates in collecting, testing, and processing urines for employment drug testing. Performs breath alcohol testing. Collects blood specimens utilizing the appropriate venipuncture or capillary technique with patients of all age groups including neonatal, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, geriatric. Performs therapeutic phlebotomy.

The Hours:

72 hours every 2-week pay period. Monday through Friday 6:45am-2:30pm and Saturday hours (8:00am-12:00pm) are based on department needs.

The Pay: Based on experience, base wage starts at $15.35

What We Need from You:

Education

• High school graduate or equivalent is required.
• Previous certification in urine drug collection and breath alcohol technician preferred. If not qualified, must obtain certification for urine drug collection and breath alcohol technician within six months in position.
• Experience as a phlebotomist preferred. Must obtain appropriate instruction and training to become a phlebotomist.
• Must demonstrate competence in BLS within six months in position by obtaining certification.

Experience

Previous experience in a health care field is desirable.

• Must be willing to learn additional tasks as identified in job description.

• Must have basic computer skills.

Who We Are:

Mitchell County Regional Health Center is in Osage, Iowa located in Mitchell County, which has a population of 10,600 people. MCRHC is a 25-bed critical access hospital, including a Level 4 Trauma Center Emergency Room seeing 3,200 visits annually. The Surgical Services department performs over 1,300 procedures annually, including specialties General Surgery, Orthopedics, ENT, Urology, Ophthalmology, Pain management, and Podiatry.
