JMAA is currently looking for qualified candidates to fill the role of Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Programs Manager

What traits do we seek? Successful candidates will…

  • Serves as liaison between the JMAA and DBE/ACDBE/SMWBE entities. Disseminates information on available business opportunities; solicits and promotes firms as business resources.
  • Ensures that business diversity is represented in all aspects of the bid process to ensure DBE/ACDBE/SMWBE compliance.
  • Targets and recruits DBE/ACDBE/SMWBEs currently not certified.
  • Works closely with senior management to promote and secure an ongoing partnership with JMAA stakeholders at all levels.
  • Bachelor's Degree in business administration, business management, political science, or related field is required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Four to seven years of relevant experience in disadvantaged business and diversity programs and community or small business development is required.
  • Have a valid Mississippi driver’s license and ability to receive authorization to drive in secured areas.

What Do You Get to Do? You will…

  • Participates in, oversees, and manages the daily operations of business diversity development, including certification, outreach, compliance, technical assistance, and goal setting.
  • Attends and plans conferences, training, and seminars to keep abreast of changing legislation related to small and disadvantaged businesses.
  • Identifies, develops, and directs activities designed to educate the public concerning JMAA and its mission related to DBE/ACDBE/SMWBE.
  • Represents the organization internally and externally by supporting the strategic direction, priorities, objectives, vision, mission, and values of JMAA.
  • Provides courteous and prompt service to all internal and external parties. Prioritizes and addresses requests and assignments professionally and cooperatively.
  • Identifies opportunities and recommends methods to improve service, work processes, and financial performance (e.g., procedure optimization). Assists in the implementation of quality improvement initiatives.
  • Assists co-workers in completing tasks and assignments to ensure continuity of service. Actively supports teamwork throughout the organization.
  • Locates DBE/ACDBE/SMWBE firms needed by staff for various projects, goods, and services.
  • Performs other services as assigned.
