At the present time, a vacancy exists for a full-time Young Parent's Program Educator within the Student Services division of the Chester County Intermediate Unit. This position is responsible for providing prenatal/parenting/life skills education to all pregnant and parenting teens enrolled in the Young Parents Program (YPP) and Education Leading to Employment and Career Training (ELECT) to increase their options, opportunities, skills, experience and self-sufficiency. Assists the Young Parents Program Supervisor with other tasks associated with the operation of the program.

Dimensions and Organizational Relationship of the Position:
The YPP/ELECT Prenatal/Parenting and Life skills Educator reports to the Supervisor of the Young Parents Program
in the Student Services Division. The employee interacts with all Young Parents Program staff and collaborates, where appropriate, with other CCIU staff that can enhance services to program participants.

The position operates in all partner middle, high schools, cyber, alternative schools and GED programs throughout Chester, Montgomery, and surrounding counties. The employee is responsible for coordinating with other Young Parents/ELECT program personnel to assist with the overall implementation of the Young Parents and ELECT programs. All activities must be in accordance with Department of Education and Department of Public Welfare program guidelines.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

1. Ensure each participant receives 2 hours of instruction monthly in the topics established by ELECT.
2. Provide and prepare lesson plans and activities for all pregnant teens in the Young Parents Program according to specific topics as outlined in the ELECT checklist, including:
   1. Prenatal and Sexual Health
   2. Parenting
   3. Jobs and Career Education
   4. Life and Relationship Skills
   5. Personal Health and Well-being
3. Once active ELECT caseload exceeds 35 students,
   1. Provide a minimum of two case management service hours per month to identified students, focusing on student attendance, grades, and individual student goals.
   2. Provide quarterly visits during the program year to these identified case management students.
4. Assist with managing referrals from school districts and other agencies and programs, by performing intake and exit protocols and provide program outreach.
5. Communicate with school district personnel on a consistent basis to utilize their services and manage student academic and attendance needs.
6. Assist with planning and implementation of summer activities to meet ELECT requirements and standards.
7. Develop flexible scheduling to accommodate students schedules at each participating school.

A. Education and Experience
1. Bachelor degree preferred.
2. Spanish speaking preferred.
3. Experience and knowledge of instruction of prenatal/parenting and life skill topics.
4. Certification in prenatal instruction, such as Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator course.

2024-2025 SALARY:
$44,553.85 - $55,692.31 annually
Project, Band 13
Exempt
7.5 hours per day, 200 days per year
