The Service Writer is an integral and vital part of the Service Department and customer service experience. This position is responsible for the receipt and flow of all incoming work and communication with customers and all other internal departments.

The Service Writer is crucial to achieve the highest customer satisfaction and dealer profitability by performing his / her duties in accordance with current company and vendor policies and procedures.

POSITION OVERVIEW

• Greet customers in a timely, friendly manner and obtain all specific vehicle and customer information required for proper repairs and invoicing.
• Write up customers’ vehicle issues and concerns or maintenance requirements accurately and clearly.
• Establish customers’ method of payment, purchase order requirements, and estimate requirements at time of write up.
• Develop customer relationship through consistent communication regarding vehicle progress, status changes, and explanation of completed work and charges.
• Maintain understanding and communication of manufacturer warranty guidelines, approval processes, and policies.
• Ensure vehicles are parked in assigned areas, locked, tagged and keys are properly stored.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years technical and / or supervisory experience in the transportation industry.
• High degree of product and technical knowledge of service maintenance.
• Knowledge of Microsoft programs and applications.
• Team player with a strong sense of commitment to the customer.
• Self-motivated with exceptional organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Conduct his / her self in a professional manner.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to sit for long periods of time at a desk.
• Ability to look at a computer screen for long periods of time
