Brief Description of Work:
Under the direction of the Director - Skyway (Director), the Skyway Central Control Operator (CCO) monitors and controls the Automated People Mover System. The position assists with testing, monitoring, and controlling the Ultimate Urban Circulator (U2C) program.
Essential Functions:
Record all significant events involving operations or other activities that are controlled and monitored.
Operate a computer in the maintenance of records, data reports and related information.
Perform daily systems Availability Reports and Oracle Work Requests.
Coordinate with Supervisor - Skyway Operations and Maintenance Supervisor to schedule events, including but not limited to modifications, retrofits, and extra service, etc.
Monitor train movement via the Automatic Train Supervision (ATS) system. Monitor patrons in the system by closed circuit television.
Monitor and control the power configuration and distribution level of the guideway using a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system (SCADA).
Assure the safety and security of the system by following approved technical, operational and safety procedures, including monitoring the safety of Skyway personnel accessing the guideway. Check and monitor alarms and related safety and security systems.
Answer emergency telephones, intercoms, radios and other communications systems. Answer patron questions about the operation of the system.
Provide safety instructions to contractors and/or outside entities.
Research and assist in Skyway special projects.
Perform testing, monitoring, and controlling of the U2C autonomous vehicles (AV).
May be required to operate manually driven trains in the Skyway system.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate’s degree in Compter Technology, or closely related field, from an accredited college or university. An equivalent combination of education, experience and training may substitute for the degree requirement.
Two (2) years of experience related to transportation or business in a computerized environment.
Must successfully pass a medical exam every two (2) years.
Must successfully complete a six-month CCO training course covering system operations and procedures and a two-month driver training and certification program.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Compter Technology, or closely related field, from an accredited college or university.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be able to initiate any Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), Emergency Operating Procedure (EOP) and Failure Management System Recovery (FMSR) procedures when needed.
Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing, with employees of all levels within an organization and with external customers and stakeholders.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced functions in Microsoft Excel and Word.
Ability to operate and monitor a complex computerized Automated People Mover system.
Must be able to comprehend and apply operational and safety procedures.
Ability to follow procedures and direct action often under stressful conditions.
Ability to convey clear directions in resolving problems.
Ability to track work request through Oracle Network.
Ability to maintain a complex data base system for daily reports.
Ability to work on multiple functions simultaneously.
Ability to lead a team, or be a participant, regardless of position within the Authority.
Ability to retain records, prepare reports, and maintain files.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
The Skyway Central Control Operator is an in-office position requiring collaboration with colleagues and interaction with customers.
Physical Demands: may include keyboarding/typing/using a computer mouse, repetitive motion, and sitting for prolonged periods.
