Forum Communications is Hiring a Remote Remote Audience Development Specialist

At FCC, you'll be crafting original news content each week to sprinkle your magic across diverse topics such as real estate, job-seeking adventures, and everything in between. Think of yourself as the Sherlock Holmes of storytelling, hunting for the next big topic or tantalizing trend.

We're about crafting experiences to captivate and engage our audience, and this role is pivotal in driving engagement and brand awareness across various social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok and YouTube. Best of all, you won't be navigating this digital landscape alone. You will be part of a tight-knit team, collaborating on strategic plans, enhancing social media tactics, and optimizing our digital playground for maximum SEO success.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create original content each week in strategic categories that serve to engage the audience, enhance SEO, and assist in our collection of 1st-party data. 
  • Collect and analyze data to identify trends as well as new content/storytelling opportunities.
  • Daily website poll questions/poll management.
  • Daily curation of Google News Showcase panels for news sites.
  • Assist with Apple News partnership.
  • Contribute to the curation of top-performing stories, photos, and videos from across the company’s multi-state news network to present engaging and user-friendly digital formats; share and promote content through various FCC social media channels and digital platforms as needed.
  • Headline writing and performance testing to ensure our content is reaching the intended audience. 
  • Collaborate on the creation and execution of strategic digital publishing plans for niche content teams.
  • Assist with social media management and enhancement for niche/new market content zones.
  • Optimize copy and landing pages for search engine optimization; perform ongoing keyword research including discovery and expansion of keyword opportunities; research and implement content recommendations for organic SEO success; recommend changes to website architecture, content, linking and other factors to improve SEO positions for target keywords.
  • Work with the company's digital marketing team to help grow online audience and increase the value of digital memberships.
  • Embrace a creative, collaborative approach with other team members and other FCC departments and locations; be a social ambassador of the FCC news brands.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mass communication, marketing, or a related field.
  • Two or more years of media or digital experience is ideal.
  • Basic experience with content management systems and social media strategy. 
  • Story, video, and/or podcast editing experience would be a plus. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently within a small team environment.
  • Knowledge and interest in web analytics, SEO, social media, and other tools that can assist in growing our digital audience.
  • Strong communication skills and a basic command of writing, style, and grammar principles
  • Passion for local journalism and understanding of its importance within the local community
  • Flexibility to work occasional nights and weekends when fill-in is required.
  • Broad understanding of digital culture and trends.
