ESSENTIAL INFORMATION:

  • Pay Considerations –The salary range for the position is $65,391.85- $104,535.68 Starting salary is dependent on education, qualifications, and experience.
  • Work Schedule – This position is scheduled to work 4 days per week, 9 hours per day, Monday through Thursday, 8:00am to 6:00pm
  • Environment – Regularly required to work in a typical office environment, use standard office equipment, read printed material and a computer terminal/screen, communicate in person and over the telephone, and is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to fingers, handle, or feel, climb or balance, talk and hear, and lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading. Limited travel to other City locations and public agencies as required. Regular and timely attendance required. 
THE ROLE:
Under the leadership of the Benefits Manager, this position is responsible for City employee leave administration which includes Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), modified duty (non-industrial) leaves requests as well as other short-term and long-term disability leave programs. This includes case management and qualifying determinations. In addition, this position will implement and oversee various employee benefits programs such as health, financial, professional and insurance programs; surveys industry standards for competitiveness; develops, recommends and implements approved, new or modified plans; supervises benefits staff; and performs all related duties as assigned.

IDEAL CANDIDATE:
  • We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented, and highly efficient Benefits and Leave Administrator to join our team.
  • Ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills to effectively explain benefits packages, FMLA/ADA, and address employee questions. 
  • Must be adept at managing administrative tasks with precision and ensuring compliance with all relevant policies and regulations. A proactive approach and the ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality are essential for success in this role.
Qualifications - External
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Human Resources, Organizational Development or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in Employee Leave Administration & case management.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ employee benefits and/or human resources experience.
  • An equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Preferred: Public Sector benefit and employee leave administration experience, i.e. municipality, county, state, etc.
  • Must possess a valid state Driver’s License with the ability to obtain appropriate Nevada State Driver’s License within required time frame.
  • Strongly Preferred Certifications: International Foundation of Employee Benefits Plans (IFEBP) Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), Professional certification by Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) or the International Management Association-HR(IPMA-HR)
