Ziebart is Hiring a Detailing Shop Foreman Near Syracuse, NY

We are looking to fill the role of Shop Foreman to oversee the shop operations, employee training development, and quality control. The right candidate will have experience in leading a team, with a background in shop management and equipment maintenance. Experience in Detailing, Autobody, or window tinting is a plus. We will train the right person in any specific task as needed. The candidate selected will be able to offer the support and guidance of the staff to work efficiently and safely to meet the company objectives. The candidate selected will need to have leadership skills in the delegation of duties, follow through on tasks, and take charge of managing the shop and the needs of the shop or staff without much oversight.

A Shop Foreman is responsible for overseeing daily operations at the shop to ensure the completion of scheduled work in a safe and efficient manner. This position requires a working manager, and the Shop Forman will jump in to assist with services for training and to keep completion deadlines. Their duties include directing shop employees to perform specific services on vehicles, monitoring the quality of services performed, and delegating of shop maintenance. Reporting needed supplies or tools needed while maintaining a safe work environment through safety meetings and compliance.

Key Performance Indicators

Measurable tasks that are key to demonstrate performance level in this role:

Coordinating daily tasks according to priorities and schedules, making changes when necessary due to weather, delivery, and personnel.

  • Delegating individual responsibilities to shop staff.
  • Training & development of skills, managing, and mentoring employees.
  • Providing adequate instruction to staff that supports the company vision.
  • Emphasizing safe use of tools, machinery, and equipment while providing training on safety gear, and procedures.
  • Quality control inspection of all services performed.
  • Enforces all company policies and procedures.

Core Functions

  • Organize and direct that services are performed per work order.
  • Ensure that any services performed within the department follow company procedures.
  • Ensure that proper equipment is used for the specific service.
  • Quality control inspection of completed vehicles interior and exterior.
  • Secure customer property.
  • Coordinates drivers to pick up and/or deliver vehicles.
  • Notifies Operations Director when there are disruptions to the service workflow or department needs.
  • Notifies Human Resources and other appropriate management when company policies or safety protocols are not being followed.
  • Fills in on workload as needed to support the department.

Work Experience:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty exceptionally or ability to train and learn the processes. Has worked in a shop environment managing employees for at least 5 years.

Industry Knowledge:

Familiar with all processes and procedures for each service offered.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
