Position Title: Field Service Technician

Brief Summary of Position Purpose:

As a Field Service Technician at Cleaveland/Price, you'll be entrusted with the critical tasks of installing, repairing, and troubleshooting our products in various field environments. Your role isn't just about technical proficiency; it's also about fostering positive and successful relationships with our valued customers. When you're not on-site, you'll be contributing to our manufacturing processes, providing essential production support. This includes ensuring proper training, adhering to safety protocols, and upholding quality standards for all assigned tasks. Your versatility and dedication will play a crucial role in maintaining our reputation for excellence both in the field and within our manufacturing operations.


Essential Functions:

  • Installs, maintains, and/or repairs Cleaveland/Price products in the field.
  • Routinely works near high-voltage electricity, exercising safety and extreme caution at all times.
  • Operates power equipment and machinery when installing, maintaining and/or repairing products.
  • Identifies efficient solutions to successfully troubleshoot unexpected problems in the field.
  • Practices and ensures the highest standards of quality and safety.
  • Quickly and accurately troubleshoots varying customer issues by phone or in person.
  • Professionally communicates with customers, salespersons, engineers, linesmen, and all others.
  • Provides timely and accurate updates to the customer and ensures the appropriate representatives of the company (i.e. FS Supervisor) are kept informed of work needs and progress.
  • Prepares and submits professional, accurate and thorough trip and expense reports.
  • Occasionally trains or oversees field contractors assisting with or learning installation to ensure work is being done safely, accurately and to industry and company standards.
  • Ensures work practices are compliant with all OSHA and ISO standards.
  • Follows all company and job-specific safety rules and regulations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Proven expertise in mechanics, electronics, and mathematical principles, particularly algebra.
  • Proficiency in interpreting and implementing schematics, drawings, and technical diagrams.
  • Aptitude for recognizing and resolving product-specific problems efficiently.
  • Capacity to remain composed and professional when handling demanding customers or tasks.
  • Capability to acquire and uphold operator certifications for relevant machinery, tools, and procedures.
  • Adaptability to thrive in diverse work environments, including elevated positions, outdoor settings, and various weather conditions (e.g., cold, heat, rain, snow, wind).
  • Ability to travel to and from job sites, including overnight stays outside of the state and country.
  • Ability to travel without notice to support immediate customer issues and needs.
  • Willing and able to become certified to operate forklifts, manlifts, scissor lifts, etc.


Demonstrated proficiency with the following equipment/tools:

  • Basic hand-tools including wrenches, hammers, screwdrivers, etc.
  • Small power tools including drills, angle-grinders, saws, etc.
  • Measuring equipment including tape measure, calipers, etc.
  • Proficiency with all required PPE.
  • Slings, chains, and other lifting devices.
  • Basic electronics such as multimeter, crimping tools, etc.
  • Computer skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Excel

Credentials, certifications & Industry-Specific Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record and a current US-issued Passport.
  • High-voltage electricity awareness and risk-prevention training.
  • Familiarity with OSHA and ISO principles.
  • Familiarity and formal training with First Aid and other health and safety training (provided).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain job-specific training credentials for field work and work being conducted when not in the field (i.e. production-related work).

Physical Requirements

As a Field Service Technician at Cleaveland/Price, you'll need to be prepared for diverse work environments that may include exposure to heat, cold, fumes, noise, and uneven surfaces. Physical requirements vary from occasionally to frequently and constantly, depending on the task at hand. You'll regularly find yourself outdoors, with the duration varying from day to day. Constantly, you'll be standing, pushing/pulling, reaching/stretching, and using your hand/wrist and forearm. You'll occasionally lift loads of up to 50lbs, and frequently twist/bend. Climbing/balancing and driving will also be part of your duties. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory for safety. In the field, this includes EH safety-toed boots (6” minimum), safety glasses, fire-retardant/hi-visibility shirts and pants, fire-retardant gloves, and fire-retardant rain gear and winter gear. When not in the field, standard PPE such as steel-toed shoes and safety glasses are required, along with any job-specific or company-mandated gear like face masks or shields.


Physical Requirements

Standard personal protective equipment (PPE) required while on the shop floor or in other work area where mandated (i.e. steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, and/or other applicable PPE).
