Title: Day Porter

Reports To: Facility Manager & General Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Hourly

POSITION SUMMARY

Come and work for Balance Gym, D.C.'s best gym! We believe in inspiring people to create balance in their lives by making fitness fun and sustainable, and we strive to do so in the most authentic and innovative ways we can. The Day Porter is responsible for cleaning and maintaining public areas in a Balance Gym location, allowing our members to have a clean, safe, and supportive fitness environment.

We are looking for a weekend Day Porter for our Balance Gym Glover Park location.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Clean the commodes, sinks, floors, and mirrors in bathrooms and keep entryways and hallways free of dirt and debris.
• Clean cardio and strength equipment.
• Empty trash throughout the facility and promptly clean up floor spills or wet spots created by inclement weather
• Keep towels, toilet tissue, and paper towels in stock.
• Accurately maintain cleaning chart indicating the time each area was visited and maintained.
• Alerts supervisor when problems occur.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Past work experience in commercial cleaning or janitorial work is strongly preferred.
• Skills in operating hand and electrical cleaning tools like dusters, brooms, mops and vacuum cleaners are required.
• A clear understanding of written and spoken English is necessary to read instructions and interact with employees and visitors.
• Must have attention to detail.
• Must be well organized and able to follow a routine that provides regular inspection and cleaning of assigned areas.
• Must be friendly, courteous and punctual.
• Most of the work requires standing or walking. Flexibility is important to effectively use the cleaning equipment.
• Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift at least 30 pounds of cleaning supplies, equipment, and buckets. Restacking weights is also a duty, but we expect the incumbent to request assistance of the weights that are too heavy to lift alone.
