Assistant Football Coach-Defensive Coordinator
Position Summary
Texas Wesleyan University is seeking to hire a Football Offensive Coordinator responsible for planning and directing the recruitment, conditioning, training, and performance of student-athletes, along with fiscal management, for a new NAIA football program to begin competition in the Central States Football League in 2017. Head coaching experience preferred. The candidate must have a strong focus on student-athlete academic success. Insist on exemplary student-athlete behaviors both on campus and in public. Have extensive coaching experience at either the high school or college level.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop coaching techniques, players, and overall strategies; evaluate individual performances and provide leadership and instruction in areas deemed necessary for success.
  • Plan and coordinate defensive team scheduling, develop defensive game plans, call defensive games, etc.
  • Conduct comprehensive recruiting activities and coordinate with the Admissions Office to establish academic eligibility and possible financial aid packages.
  • Counsel team members on academic, disciplinary, and personal matters.
  • Coordinate with faculty and administration to resolve those problems within their jurisdiction.
  • Participate in fundraising, public relations activities, e.g., public appearances, attendance at conferences, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with NAIA and Central States Football League rules and regulations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Willing to accept additional duties as assigned by the Athletic Director
Education, Certifications and/or Licenses
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Valid driver’s license
Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of successful coaching experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Must have extensive football knowledge, including recruitment, scheduling, student-athlete development, etc.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
