Job Description

Upward Bound Program : Hope College TRiO Upward Bound is a federally funded program that prepares high school students to enter and succeed in post-secondary education.

The six-week summer program serves 92 high school students, grades 9-12, and includes academic classes, social, cultural and recreational activities.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

• Ensure safety of Upward Bound Students and Coaching staff during the hours of 10 : 00 p.m.- 6 : 00 a.m. in a residence hall at Hope College.
• Interact with students, Coaching and Administrative staff as needed / requested.
• Check all entrances to residence hall and walk through each floor at designated times throughout the night.
• Contact Upward Bound Administrators / Coaching staff in the event of a crisis / emergency situation.
• Intervene / assist Upward Bound Administrative / Coaching staff in a crisis / emergency situation.
• Cooperate with Campus Safety and Holland Public Safety departments in the event of a crisis / emergency situation.
• Complete Evening Reports and submit to Resident Director the following morning.

Physical Demands

This position requires remaining in a sitting or standing position for frequent periods of time; uses office machinery such as a computers, printers, copy machines;

Occasionally involves lifting over 10 pounds; frequently will move between different offices / workspaces / buildings; and requires effective communication abilities with students.
