General Position Summary:
This position is ultimately responsible for implementing policy and accomplishing objectives as set forth by the Board of Directors; ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws and rules; responsible for directing employees in a professional and efficient manner in keeping with Garten Services Mission, Vision, and Values statements and Personnel Policies; represents organization in the community. Leader of Senior Management Team.

Job Scope:
Performs duties with little direction given, working within established policies or responsible for developing policies and procedures for approval by the Board of Directors. Decisions are made with broad interpretation of applicable laws, governmental guidelines, company policies and procedures.
Fiscal responsibilities include budget preparation, controlling costs, and managing an operating budget of greater than $7,000,000 per year. The position is totally accountable for the control of the organization’s capital assets.
This position is accountable for organization strategic planning and is responsible for long-range operational planning and implementation in conjunction with the Board of Directors.
Mistakes/errors can impact the organization legally, andlitigation against the organization could be disruptive to the organization’s image and reputation, finances, and personnel.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Full supervisory responsibility for Department Directors and indirect supervisory responsibilities for Department Managers and line staff. This responsibility includes employee assignment, development, evaluation, coaching,mentoringand/or discipline, approving any absences or overtime, training, and making any recommendations for hiring, terminations, pay changes, and job changes.
Positions which report directly to this position are: Director of Program Services, Director of Development, Director of Finance and Support Services and Director of Operations. All other managers report indirectly to this position.
Interpersonal Contacts:
Regular contact with others both inside and outside the organization. Internal contacts are with all the Board of Directors, Senior Management Team, and can be with anyone within the organization. The most frequent external contacts are with peers, community businessleaders, customers (state and federal officials, attorneys, consultants, etc.) Internal and external interactions involve complex information exchange, problem solving, negotiation, and consultation.
All contacts are usually made at the employee's own initiative with 50% of the contacts being over the phone and 50% face to face. Contacts frequently contain confidential/sensitive information, requiring discretion at all times.

This position requires the incumbent to work in an environment where there may be exposure to building temperature fluctuations, odors, noise, poor light and poor ventilation. Other working conditions may include:
Frequent interruptions; extended working hours; evening/early morning meetings; working alone; extensive close work; pressure because of deadlines; contact with individuals with aggressive behaviors; and extensive computer work.
