TITLE: Communication Clerk
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12-month employee, Full Time 40/wk. Classified Compensation Plan - Level 2 Based on Experience and Education
REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR - COMMUNICATIONS
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Under general supervision, the clerk will do a variety of moderately difficult clerical work and related work as required and directed by the Director of Communications and Social Media.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
* Provide general clerical services to the Communications department, including composition of routine correspondence and word processing of documents.
* Update and file records.
* Serve as public relations liaison in answering telephones, taking messages, and returning telephone calls.
* Assist in maintaining an editorial calendar that highlights student and alumni success stories, innovative teaching practices, program launches, district initiatives, and events.
* Assist in monitoring social media buzz
* Help coordinate and represent MUSD at special events (may include evenings and weekends).
* Assist with the planning and completion of all materials (correspondence, promotional materials, invitations, fliers, and various other items needed) for events and promotional campaigns.
* Complete purchasing requisitions and maintain records for the Community Relations budget.
* Gather and edit photos and video footage
* Assist in preparation of all publications including gathering information, proofreading, limited writing, and photography.
* Assist with ensuring content is on-brand, consistent in terms of style, quality and tone of voice, and optimized for social promotion.
* Maintain confidentiality of information.
* Possess organizational and planning skills.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
* Excellent verbal and written skills
* Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma and two (2) years office experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience that provide the required knowledge and skills. Bilingual preferred. Able to perform the following physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodation: critical sensory requirements include general vision, corrected to 20/20, hear or listen in the normal range (corrected) and speak and give directions clearly. Able to walk, sit, stand, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, lift (exerting force up to 50 pounds).
