Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Deliver quality dental hygiene in a dependable, responsible, safe and caring manner; feel and visually examine gums for sores and signs of oral disease; clean calcareous deposits, accretions, and stains from teeth and beneath margins of gums using dental instruments; take and develop x-rays; apply fluoride, sealants and other cavity preventing agents; examine gums, using probes, to locate signs of periodontal disease. Perform consultations with patient, family, and/or specialists, coordinating care as indicated.
- Provide dental treatments and restorative services including but not limited to amalgam restorations on primary and permanent dentition, composite restorations on primary and permanent dentition. Administer local anesthetic agents; remove sutures and dressings; place and remove rubber dams, matrices and temporary restorations. Skill and qualifications to utilize nitrous oxide for patients. Clean and sterilize instruments. Effectively manage periodontal therapy.
- Electronically document patient visits, telephone contacts and treatments no less than 24 hours following each patient visit. Chart conditions of decay and disease for diagnosis and treatment by dentist. Maintain records in compliance with professional, federal, and other applicable guidelines; assure compliance with accrediting agencies and with organizational policies and procedures. Oversee recall program.
- Provide clinical services and health education to improve and maintain oral health for patients. Assist to develop programs to provide clinical services and health education to pre-school and school children on reservation.
- Act as office assistant or laboratory technician as needed. Electronically schedule appointments and do work such as making models from dental impressions.
- Maintain close communication with Dentist about clinic needs and complex patient care issues. Comply with organizational deadlines, keep abreast of organizational updates, attend meetings and serve on committees as directed. Comply with credentialing requirements. Collaborate with other team members to provide organized and effective care.
- Maintain current knowledge and skill in treating a vast array of dental conditions present within the practice through ongoing continuing education.
- Provide excellent customer service by returning calls promptly, providing thorough follow-up and maintaining positive relationships with patients and colleagues. Adjust schedule to accommodate seeing additional patients as circumstances and needs warrant
- Adhere to all applicable tribal, federal, or state privacy laws and regulations, including but not limited HIPPA and 42 CFR Part 2.

- Requires the ability to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Significant portions of the job require extended sedentary periods; constant work with computers with repetitive action of hands and wrists; also standing, walking, sitting, bending and stooping.
- Travel to and from Spokane and Usk, WA.
- Will require protective gloves or other appropriate personal protective equipment for safety precautions.
- Common exposure to contagious and infectious diseases and body fluids.
- Potential exposure to unpredictable behavior from patients, families and visitors.
- This position requires occasional out-of-town travel to meetings and conferences.
- The work is performed in a clinical setting.
