Onpoint Industrial Services, LLC is Hiring a Safety Professional Near Baytown, TX

Job Summary & MissionThis position is critical in establishing and promoting a safe, accident free and healthy working environment at the assigned client job site(s). This position is responsible for maintaining the highest degree of honesty and integrity, and acting in a professional manner at all times. Safety is first and foremost in all activities, and this position is a role model for all other contractors to strive to emulate. Establish training of supervision and workers to eliminate unsafe acts before they occur. Investigate accidents, ensure worker safety, report findings and implement corrections.
Duties And Responsibilities
  • Assist in the administration of client’s safety program to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Conduct regular walk through inspections of operating units or construction sites inside petrochemical facilities.
  • Identify, document and recommend resolution of hazardous/potential hazardous conditions; follow through to insure corrections have been made. Investigate personal injury and property damage accidents.
  • Compile data, photographs, etc.; prepare all pertinent forms and reports per program procedures and federal, state, local regulations associated with accidents.
  • Review documentation to ensure all required records and reports are complete, accurate and submitted per established procedures, and implement appropriate corrective action as required.
  • Assist in conducting employee/craft walk through tours. May accompany federal, state and insurance inspectors on walk through tours.
  • Assist in maintaining fire protection and grounding systems.
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.
  • Performs other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor
Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position does not have any direct reports.
Travel RequirementsThe Safety Professional must be willing/able to travel to project job sites throughout the US (heavy emphasis on the Texas and Louisiana Gulf Coast).
Education & Experience
  • Must have a High school education or equivalent.
  • Must have a four-year occupational safety/health degree and five (5) years related experience or 10 years of documented safety experience, preferably with turnaround/shutdown projects, and or capital projects, with multiple crafts.
  • Must be able to follow and comprehend supervisor’s instructions.
  • Must be fluent at reading, speaking, and writing English.
  • Must demonstrate skills in report writing
  • Must have proven training skills
  • Must be able to maintain communications with Onpoint supervisors of job status and current assigned responsibilities.
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office Suite).
  • Possess or be willing/able to obtain the CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Must have reliable transportation

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively in one-on-one and small group situations, including clients and employees.
  • Computer: Basic PC skills with particular emphasis on Microsoft Office (MSWord, MS Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Ability to quickly learn additional software programs as required by job responsibilities.
  • Customer Orientation: Demonstrates concern for meeting internal and external customers' needs in a manner that provides satisfaction for the customer within the resources that can be made available.
Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this Job, the employee could be exposed to fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and outside weather conditions. They may be required to work in extreme cold and extreme heat and is may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. Their work may involve risks to hazards such as: working around moving mechanical parts; risk of electrical shock; explosives and vibration. The noise level in the work environment may exceed 85dB and will require the use of hearing protection.
Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand or walk. They will need to use their hands and fingers to handle or feel and to reach with hands and arms. They will need to use their senses to see, feel, hear, taste and smell. The employee must be able to climb ladders and scaffolds while working at heights; bend and/or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must be able to work in confined spaces. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment, including but not limited to rain gear, chemical protective clothing, supplied air and air purifying respirators, safety harness, FRC coveralls or uniforms, hard hat, ear plugs and safety glasses. Must be able to work long hours and all shift schedules that may be up to seven days a week for extended duration’s of up to 8 weeks or more.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Must possess a TWIC card.
  • Current driver’s license from state of residence and proof of vehicle insurance with state liability minimum. Valid driver’s license from state of residence, proof of vehicle insurance with state liability minimum and a clean MVR (no major violations).
