Location

Office is located in Bigler, PA. This position assists the Transportation Manager to assure safe transportation of children to preschool classrooms. Position includes travel and provides coverage as a bus driver, bus aide and/or transporter to any CenClear Preschool Centers offering transportation in Centre and Clearfield Counties. Compensation for time and mileage occurs based on the reimbursement policy.

Compensation

  • Yearly Salary Range $31,600-$32,600

Hours

  • This is a full-time position.
  • 37.5 hours per week, 44 weeks per year

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • Pennsylvania Driver’s License
  • PennDOT Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B with Passenger and School Bus Endorsement or willingness to obtain upon hire
  • Bus driving experience
  • Must obtain the following clearances prior to hire: PA State Police Criminal History, PA Child Abuse History, FBI Criminal History, and Mandated Reporting Certificate

Responsibilities

  • This individual will provide coverage for the following positions: bus driver, transporter and bus aide based on coverage needs.
  • Assist the transportation manager as needed
  • Assist in the hiring process for positions within the transportation department (Bus Drivers, Bus Aides, Transporters, Substitutes etc.)
    • Assist in training and coordination of training for new and current employees within the transportation department.
    • Assist in the monitoring or provision of monthly reflective supervision for bus drivers, transporters, and bus aides
    • Assist in the supervision of the process of the development of bus runs for each class
    • Assist in the completion of yearly appraisals for all bus drivers and transporters
    • Acquire and maintain Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B with passenger and school bus endorsements
  • Coordination of Services
    • Assist the Dispatcher/Transportation Manager
    • Coordinate and communicate with the preschool administrative team and fleet/maintenance staff as needed
    • Communicate and coordinate with outside agency staff in a professional manner.
    • Participate in family and/or staff meetings as needed
    • Help with coverage of runs (driver or aide)
    • Assist with developing bus runs to meet federal Head Start Performance Standards
    • Help coordinate vehicles for service
  • Compliance Monitoring
    • Participate in annual Self-Assessment
    • Assist in maintaining records
    • Assist staff with mandatory paperwork
    • Assist tracking required physicals and trainings for drivers
  • Administrative Duties
    • Assist the Dispatcher/Transportation Manager with the completion of bus driver and transporter observations. Provide written feedback.
    • Assist the Dispatcher/Transportation manager with the development of policies and procedures
    • Comply with memos
    • Assist with the transporter/bus aide substitute assignments as needed
    • Assist in maintaining substitute list
    • Assist with managing compliance with all program and transportation performance standards and guidelines
    • Provide driver, transporter, or bus aide coverage in person, as needed, to assure that transportation is provided for children
    • File department paperwork and check accuracy
    • Assist staff with payroll
    • Cooperates with all CenClear staff and outside agencies and professionals
  • Miscellaneous
    • Participate in 7.5 hours of Public Relations activities annually
    • Promote Sanctuary practices
    • Other tasks as assigned

Physical Requirements

  • Reach overhead.
