The Bilingual (Spanish) Community Safety Coordinator oversees the shelter's Community Safety and Security team, supports the operation and maintenance of the shelter's security and safety infrastructure, engages stakeholders to identify and address safety needs and empowers community members to safeguard each other through training and related supports. Certification in Wicklander Interview and investigatory skills a plus. Bilingual (Spanish) required for this position.ResponsibilitiesPartners with Community Safety Manager (CSM) for key training initiatives for PSP staff, security, and safety team members.Creates and implements safety plans to support guests and staff with safety concerns and security awareness. Ensures all visitors are escorted into People Serving People.Collaborates with other departments to promote trauma-informed and responsive community safety practices. Familiarity with the impact of trauma as well as trauma-informed and trauma-responsive practices.Conducts safety and security-related investigations in partnership with the CSM, generated from PDL (Salesforce) entries.Responds to all medical emergencies and activate emergency procedures.Resolves conflicts utilizing approved de-escalation tactics.Answers off-hours calls in the event of an emergency, responding when needed.Working knowledge of OSHA regulatory guidelines; conducting quarterly audits to ensure compliance.Ensures that all security procedures are followed to Standard Operating Procedures.Provides daily oversight, quality control, and onboarding of new Garda Security Officer.Provide security and safety training for all new and current People Serving People staff.Provide coaching for staff members and residents with safety practices and procedures.Acts as a liaison with Federal, State, and local Law Enforcement and emergency services.Prepares written investigative reports for internal and/or external government agencies.Participate in and further the organization's racial equity work.Pay and Benefits$27.50/hourTuesday through Saturday from 2:30 p.m.-11:00 p.m.Medical, dental, and vision insurance are available.Company-paid life and disability insurance.401(k) with employer contribution at 6 months.40 days of PTO per year.Reduced cost parking or metro pass.$40 cell phone reimbursement.Reduced childcare rates.12 weeks of paid parental leave.Financial wellness benefit.Free lunch every day.The chance to make a real difference in the community.Requirements: High school diploma/GED required.Bachelor's Degree in Public Safety/Criminal Justice (preferred).Bilingual (Spanish) is required for this position.Must be able to sit, stand, and or walk for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift or move 50 lbs.Must be able to obtain Basic First Aid/CPR/AED Certification within 30 days of employment.Must be able to obtain De-escalation training/Certification within 60 days of employment.Must be able to obtain NARCAN training within 30 days of employment.Highly competent with Microsoft 365 suite: Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and SharePoint.Familiarity with security equipment including but not limited to security cameras and network video recorders, access controls, metal detection, and mass notification systems.Familiarity with commercial security industry and civilian and/or military law enforcement.
