Job SummaryThis recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (approximately 16 hours per week), seasonal (May 20 – August 31) Facilities Engineer 3 position for SnoPlanks at Oregon State University Cascades.
The position may be needed December – March as well.
This position will be located in Bend, Oregon. In 2024 OSU -Cascades launched an innovative model, called SnoPlanks Academy, to provide students a hands-on opportunity running an outdoor products company. It incorporates leadership and management of SnoPlanks, a snowboard brand and production company, into students’ academic experiences. SnoPlanks Academy provides students resume-building experiences – from product design and supply chain management to financial analysis and go-to-market execution – that employers look for. This new venture will transform how OSU -Cascades students and faculty approach learning and teaching with experiences that can also help attract and retain students.
The SnoPlanks Academy Engineer 3 is critical for the success of SnoPlanks Academy. This position applies a wide range of advanced engineering principles, methods, and theories to design and develop the inaugural SnoPlanks Academy snowboard product line. The SnoPlanks Academy Engineer 3 holds primary responsibility for operations at the SnoPlanks Academy production facility, ensuring that projects satisfy client requirements, comply with building codes and engineering principles, meet strict safety standards, and meet budget limits. This position instructs SnoPlanks staff on the safe and correct use of complex manufacturing equipment and software and on the complete product manufacturing process including equipment maintenance, materials ordering and care, and vendor relations.

Some positions in this class may require a Professional Engineering License (PE). Some positions in this class may require other professional credentials or certifications.
What You Will Need
  • Experience in designing and building snowboards.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

  • Prior experience designing and building snowboards for the SnoPlanks brand
  • Experience in 3D Laser Scanning Experience with AutoCad
  • Experience with project management
  • Experience managing or leading a team
Working Conditions / Work ScheduleThis role will operate, or assist with the operation of, all SnoPlanks design and production equipment, in the SnoPlanks facility.
