Overview

KidsTLC transforms the lives of children and families experiencing mental and behavioral health challenges, developmental trauma, and autism. They are currently seeking a Nurse to join their diverse team of professionals. This is a client/resident care-oriented position that is intended to provide emotional and physical comfort to clients. The Nurse is responsible for management of medical care and communication of medical issues on their assigned unit/s and for delivering high quality medical services and holistic care to clients. Services are individualized and will be provided in the most appropriate setting, in a timely manner and in accordance with best practices. The Nurse’s scope of practice includes, but is not limited to, planning, communication, implementation, evaluation, and documentation.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, the RN/LPN will…

  • Help staff maintain a safe, hygienic, and nurturing environment.
  • Assess clients’ medical and psychiatric needs.
  • Meet the reasonable medical and emotional needs of the clients.
  • Respect the child and their family’s individuality.
  • Provide individualized care for each child.
  • Inform the Nurse Practitioner/s and Nurse Manager of any emergency, concern, or adverse change in a client’s mental or physical health.
  • Strict practice with HIPAA and COA regulations.
  • Promptly respond to a crisis and conflict with confidence and professionalism.
  • Develop therapeutic relationships with the children/clients and their parents/guardians.
  • Assist with coordinating medical and psychiatric care for the clients while at KidsTLC.
  • Complete all documentation with accuracy and in a timely manner.
  • Delegate selected tasks to licensed and unlicensed personnel within a formulated plan of care.
  • Organize, cross-check and administer medications to clients, documenting each medication administration according to KidsTLC’s policies and procedures.
  • Perform basic physical and emotional client assessments and share findings with the Nurse Manager and Provider to help formulate treatment plans with anticipated outcomes.
  • Work as an integral member of the KidsTLC Organization as a whole.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited RN/LPN program and current RN/LPN licensure in good standing.
  • Must maintain current RN/LPN licensure without restriction and in compliance with the Kansas Nurse Practice Act.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ psychiatric nursing experience preferred.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Proficient with basic nursing skills and good understanding of medications.
