The Floor Technician/Janitor is assigned to floor and carpet maintenance crews. The employee will have knowledge of floor types, floor finishes, and floor maintenance equipment. He/she will perform floor cleaning assignments that include but are not limited to carpet, vinyl, terrazzo, and wood flooring.
The essential functions of a Floor Technician include, but are not limited to, the following:
Follow safety policies and procedures without exception
Sweep and dust mop entire area, using proper techniques to prepare floor for cleaning
Inspect equipment, attachments, and connections prior to use, according to standard procedures
Prepare cleaning solutions according to label directions
Scrub floors with low speed floor machines or auto scrubber
Remove any stubborn marks of stains in proper method
Pick up excess solutions with mop or wet dry vacuum
High speed buff floor areas to restore shine
Follow standard procedures to strip floors
Follow standard procedures for applying finish to floors
Pre-spot stains in carpet before prior cleaning entire area
Shampoo and extract carpet
Remove and replace all furniture
Thoroughly clean all equipment and store each piece properly
Site is to be left clean, touching up baseboards and furniture as necessary
Performing other similar and related duties as assigned by supervisor
Requirements
Must pass background check
Ability to build relationships with management and fellow employees
Ability to stay on task while working independently
