Job Title
We are currently hiring tutors for our Morgan Site (Tamaqua), Science (Bio/Chem), and Sociology/Psychology.
Tutors provide direct academic support to LCCC students enrolled in courses for which the Tutoring Program offers assistance. Tutors assist students in understanding specific material, building confidence reinforcing strategies for academic success, and developing tools to become independent, lifelong learners. Tutors may offer individual or group sessions, work in a seated lab in one or more College locations (Allentown, Schnecksville, Tamaqua), or work remotely through an asynchronous mode.
Applicants must supply a resume/CV, along with two references, a cover letter, and unofficial transcripts to Debra Condon, Education Support Center Lab Supervisor, at dcondon@lccc.edu. Hiring is contingent on submission of all mandatory clearances. Preliminary Applications for our Tutor Pool are accepted throughout the year. They are typically reviewed prior to the fall and spring semesters, but serve as a resource if needs arise during a semester. The Educational Support Services office contacts selected applicants for in person or virtual interviews.
Duties and Responsibilities

• Establish working relationships with student(s) and Educational Support Services personnel.
• Participate in professional development, self-evaluation and mandatory College Reading & Learning Association (CRLA) training sessions. Payment for training hours is contingent upon hiring and background clearances
• Become familiar with the text, syllabus, and course assignments.
• Maintain accurate record sheets, session summaries, and online time cards.
• Submit all completed paperwork according to the department's payroll schedule.
• Routinely read and respond to work related correspondence during scheduled time.
• Complete online training modules as per the department of Human Resources' direction.
• Abide by the Tutor Agreement.
• Perform other duties assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Must hold a valid degree pertinent to the discipline(s) tutored.
• Must have adequate knowledge of both MLA and APA citation formats (writing tutors).
• Must communicate clearly in written and verbal format.
• Must possess a working knowledge of basic computer skills.
• Must be able to work with students of diverse academic skills and cultural backgrounds.
