The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing care management within the scope of licensure for members of a SPMI population who have complex and chronic care needs. The NP works on a multidisciplinary team, providing nurse practitioner services to an assigned caseload, including assessment and prescription of medications within the scope of licensure. The work setting is within our Outpatient Mental Health clinic.

Responsibilities

• Conducts psychiatric evaluation assessments, prescribes and administer medications and ongoing treatment for psychiatric patients

• Coordinate somatic care with external providers, collaborates with family, physicians, and other treatment team members and orders and interprets labs and other diagnostic studies as needed to provide high level of care

• Develops, implements and documents psychiatric care plans and document all services in electronic health records

• Provides in-service training to staff as needed

• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

· Two to three years experience providing mental health services preferred.

· Active Nurse Practitioner licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nurses. Completion of state approved Nurse Practitioner certification program preferred. Experience in medication management in Outpatient Mental healthcare setting, and substance abuse treatment preferred. Thorough knowledge of nursing techniques, testing procedures and medication prescribing practices.

(Possession of a valid driver’s license and vehicle that can be used for work purposes -Mileage Reimbursed- is required)
