WONDERWORKS is Hiring a Technician - Indoor Attractions (PT) $22/hr Near Orlando, FL

WonderWorks is a hands-on indoor theme park for your mind! We feature over 100 hands-on, interactive exhibits for visitors of all ages to experience to spark imagination and creativity. Our exhibits utilize some of the most sophisticated graphic and audio presentation techniques available. Activities range from a realistic, simulated hurricane to virtual reality. Throughout WonderWorks, guests actively participate in imaginative displays and exhibits. We would not be able to provide the experience to our guests without our WONDERful team of technicians. 
  • Part-time; Availability to work Mondays and Tuesday, 12pm-8pm

Maintenance Technicians concentrate on the safety of our guests and employees through maintaining exhibits and other aspects of the building. Maintenance Technicians are responsible for completing preventative and routine maintenance, upkeep of building and exhibits, monitoring the safety of equipment, and maintaining company values.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Constructs, installs and repairs exhibits and display mechanisms, props and backgrounds for exhibits, vitrines and showcases, partitions, walls, and general exhibition effects
  • Paints, wallpapers, and installs fabric in exhibition galleries, finishes floors, and assembles and mounts wall panels, labels, photomurals, photographs, and other materials
  • Evaluates, redesigns, and modifies exhibits and display mechanisms for exhibits during prototyping and maintenance; ensures maximum durability for use by the public during exhibition
  • Maintains all areas throughout the building and makes repairs as needed
  • Monitors exhibit functioning under actual operating conditions and prioritizes and carries out major repair needs
  • Maintains and repairs the building’s plumbing and electrical systems including replacing defective or worn parks such as switches and fuses
  • Repairs, maintains and replaces worn or damaged parts such as hoses, wiring, and belts in rides or equipment such as vehicles, fork lifts, or riding mowers
  • Repairs, maintains and/or replaces building brick, stone, concrete and wood parts of buildings
  • Operates snow removal equipment, repairs streets and sidewalks with asphalt, cold patching materials and concrete to maintain parking lot and sidewalks
  • Adjusts, calibrates, aligns, and modifies circuitry and components and records effects on unit performance
  • Assists in cleaning building, washing windows, and emptying trash cans
  • Trains exhibitors on all major exhibits
  • Performs opening and closing procedures for the building
  • Ability to perform assigned duties with limited supervision
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum requirements: The ability to multi-task, must be self-motivated and be able to work with limited supervision and make reasonable and ethical decisions quickly will be needed for this position. Previous Technician experience or schooling is required. On-the-job training is provided upon joining. It’s important to note that as a team member in an indoor theme park and people-facing venue, certain physical demands may come up on the job. While performing the duties of this job, an employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk and hear. Frequently required to sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. Occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and lift from 10 pounds up to 50 pounds.
