Position Overview: 
Under general supervision, assists school children safely across street; report problems requiring possible police action; performs other related duties as required.Requests school children to wait at the curb for safe crossing and to dismount from bicycles or remove roller skates; halts traffic by hand signals, giving due consideration to the distance required to stop and the avoidance of unnecessary traffic congestion; escorts children safely across the street; signals for traffic to resume; reports persons seen loitering around schools for extended periods to the Police Department; reports license numbers of traffic violators to the Police Department. Responsible for regular attendance and arriving to work on time.High School diploma or GED.
Ability to understand oral and written instructions; ability to distinguish colors, red, yellow, green; ability to see on-coming cars; ability to stand for prolonged periods in inclement weather; knowledge of traffic laws.Valid Class "C" driver's license. Must have and maintain a good driving record in accordance with the driving standards as established by the City of Rowlett. Must report all traffic citations to his/her departmental Director or his/her designee within two working days of receipt.
