Walsworth is Hiring a Benefits Specialist Near Marceline, MO

Job Summary:

As our Walsworth Benefits Specialist, you will be responsible for assisting with the administration of all benefits and retirement programs, including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, and 401(k) plans. This position reports to the HR Team Leader and does not have any direct reports.

The schedule for this position is 100% in-office, Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Our Corporate HR Team works out of the Walsworth - Marceline Corporate Office.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.
  • Assists with new-hire orientations.
  • Performs quality checks of benefits-related data.
  • Assists employees regarding benefits claim issues and plan changes.
  • Distributes all benefits enrollment materials and determines eligibility.
  • Enrolls employees with carriers and process life status changes.
  • Responds to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries.
  • Processes and administers all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability and FMLA.
  • Effectively interprets FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absences/disabilities.
  • Responds to 401(k) inquiries from managers and employees relating to enrollments, plan changes and contribution amounts. Manages the annual catch-up contribution enrollment.
  • Assists with the open enrollment process.
  • Administers the tuition reimbursement program.
  • Provides necessary reports for allocation/billing charges.
  • Some travel to other Walsworth locations is possible.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws preferred.
  • Demonstrated advanced proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Ability to remain organized and self-directed in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to professionally interface with a variety of individuals, groups and teams on a frequent basis.
  • Ability to work with limited direction and supervision, while demonstrating good judgment and strict confidence.
  • Must successfully complete any training or certification courses required to support or strengthen position.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including strong customer service skills.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in a related field and a minimum of two years experience in benefits administration or a related function OR
  • Associate degree and four years experience in benefits administration or a related function OR
  • High School Diploma and six years experience in benefits administration or a related function
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • U.S. work authorization is required. Walsworth does not offer employment sponsorship.
