Job Summary:
Zymo Research is looking for a dynamic individual to join our Engineering Team! The Mechanical Engineer Intern will support the design and development of plastic sample collection devices within a product development environment. This role is intended for students or recent graduates pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field and provides hands-on experience in CAD design, prototyping, and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities
- Create and modify 3D CAD models and drawings for plastic components using SolidWorks or similar tools
- Support plastic part design with consideration for manufacturability and assembly
- Assist with prototype development, evaluation, and design iteration
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to support development activities
- Maintain accurate design documentation in accordance with internal processes
Key Skills and Qualifications
- Pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Proficiency in CAD software
- Basic understanding of plastic part design principles
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a team environment
Preferred Skills
- Exposure to injection-molded plastic design or rapid prototyping
- Experience in a product development or regulated environment

Compensation, Benefits, and Perks:
The estimated base compensation range for this position is $20 - $25 an hour at the time of posting. Actual compensation details will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors.
