Job Description
Job Objective
Performs accounting functions and clerical tasks related to the efficient processing and maintenance accurate financial records, performing general ledger functions, preparing financial reports and supporting month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes. The ideal candidate will oversee the accounts payables function, inventory reconciliation, bank reconciliation, job cost tracking, and customer invoicing transactions. This role requires general accounting responsibilities including journal entries and account reconciliations. Codes invoices, vouchers, expense reports, etc., with correct codes conforming to standard procedures to ensure proper entry into the financial system. Responsible for reviewing actuals vs budget and able to prepare and analyzes variances using bridges.
Job Responsibilities & Duties
- Month-end, quarter-end and year-end Closing process
- Able to reconcile variances using analysis and data to provide detailed explanation and derive conclusions on numbers in the books.
- Prepare reports for the Finance department to track Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and Cashflow targets.
- Prepare and files state taxes and to ensure filings are proper and up to date.
- Assist with year-end audit.
- Assist with management report and analysis.
- Process job budgets and compare actual cost to estimates and analyze variances.
- Assists with employee expense reports and verify receipts, completeness, and accuracy.
- Creates new jobs in accounting system and enter the associated budget
- Develops internal controls with the controller and ensures controls are in place and risks are mitigated.
- Prepares, verifies, and controls the entering of journal entries to the general ledger.
- Provides financial support to Controller.
- Understand revenue recognition with regards to percentage of completion accounting, unbilled receivables, advance billings and to calculate POC revenue for various projects.
- Provides backup support to other members on the accounting team.
- Performs other duties assigned.
Requirements
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance related field required plus two (4) years of experience. CPA or MBA is a plus.
