Underwriter or Underwriting Specialist- Management Liability

Zurich is currently looking for an Underwriter or Underwriting Specialist Management Liability. We are looking for candidates to work out of our Chicago, IL location.

As a Management Liability Underwriter, you will be responsible for utilizing your sales/marketing, relationship building and analytical skills to analyze and underwrite new and renewal business for Financial Lines Products (Directors and Officers, Employment Practices Liability, Fiduciary Liability and Crime Insurance) for public and large private companies.

This is a market facing position. We are looking for someone with a strong sales mindset who will proactively manage renewal of accounts and aggressively seek new business opportunities. A key responsibility of this role is building strong relationships with our retail brokers and insured customers to refine our account portfolio as well as generate new business. Identifying growth opportunities by determining our customers’ insurance needs and providing the appropriate solutions will also be a critical responsibility of this position.

Key Accountabilities of this role:

• Manage a Administer and monitor underwriting rules and guidelines, rating manual rules, and insurance laws and regulations.
• Develop, maintain & collaborate with Line of Business product representatives and other business-related needs, as appropriate.
• Develop and maintain relationships with brokers in support of business retention and acquisition and work with insureds to determine their insurance related needs and provide solutions.
• Support the organization's sales culture by being a Help Point for brokers and customers.
• Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities.
• Complete detailed opportunity assessment with key distributors to identify growth opportunities.
• Qualify accounts to meet with the organization's appetite, balanced with sound business opportunity.
• Make broker/customer and on-sight calls with a planned and well-prepared purpose.
• Mentor team members.
  
  

This role will be filled at either the Underwriter or Underwriting Specialist Level. The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicant’s experience and skill set relative to the qualifications listed for this position.

Basic Qualifications:

Underwriter:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 1 or more years of experience in the Insurance or Market Facing area. OR
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 2 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area AND
• Knowledge of the insurance industry and the legal and regulatory environment
• Knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filing regulations and guidelines
• Knowledge of line/s of business and the legal and regulatory guidelines
• Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business
• Experience with Microsoft Office
• Experience working on time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business
• Experience working in a team environment
  
  

OR

Underwriting Specialist:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area. OR
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 1 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area

Your pay at Zurich is based on your role, location, skills, and experience. We follow local laws to ensure fair compensation. You may also be eligible for bonuses and merit increases. If your expectations are above the listed range, we still encourage you to apply—your unique background matters to us. The pay range shown is a national average and may vary by location. The combined salary range for this position is $60,000.00 - $125,000.00. The proposed salary range for the Underwriteris $60,000.00 - $95,000.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 10%. The proposed salary range for the Underwriting Specialist- Management Liability is $75,000.00 - $125,000.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 10%.
