Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide essential support to individuals with disabilities in various settings, including home, community care, group home setting. The ideal candidate will be committed to enhancing the quality of life for those they serve by promoting independence and dignity while ensuring their safety and well-being.
We have three positions open:
Position one: Awake graveyard position in home. This position works 2-3 shifts per week. Housekeeping tasks and meal prep is the main responsibility during this time. Shifts are between the hours of 9pm-9am. In general shifts will be the same each week.
Position two: Morning shift- Working 5 days a week between the hours of 6am-10am. The main tasks for this person is to get individuals ready for day, dispense medications, driving to activities in company vehicle, getting individuals prepped/set up for appointments and/or in home activities, complete breakfast. In general shifts will be the same each week.
Position three: a Mix of shifts that are put together to get 30 hours a week. it would be the same shifts every week.
Duties
- Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
- Provide support in home community care settings, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for clients.
- Engage clients in social and recreational activities to promote mental and emotional well-being.
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's needs, including those with dementia or other cognitive impairments.
- Maintain accurate documentation of client progress and any changes in behavior or health status while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including nurses, to coordinate care for clients requiring medical attention.
- Perform heavy lifting as needed to assist clients with mobility challenges or during transfers.
- Foster a positive and respectful relationship with clients, encouraging their autonomy and participation in decision-making.
Qualifications
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities is highly preferred.
- Background in home health care, senior care, or group home environments is advantageous.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and assist clients with physical mobility needs.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining client confidentiality.
