Job Description
Summary/Objective
Conducts and monitors computer jobs using an operations checklist to facilitate the nightly computer operations.
Duties/Responsibilities Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
- Perform nightly computer operations including:
- Monitor, facilitate and assure completion of nightly computer operations, jobs, and processes.
- Follow run sheet and update checklist.
- Monitor and respond to system console for conditions/messages requiring further attention.
- Mount and un-mount tape cartridges as required.
- Report hardware and software problems to supervisor, open tickets and contact on-call technical staff.
- Ensure building is secured, all external doors are locked, and lights are turned off before exiting building.
- Perform tape exchange at offsite storage location.
- Conduct semi-monthly generator tests.
- Propose modifications and/or enhancements to supervisor.
- Make appropriate changes to documentation as needed.
- Maintain security and privacy of all company data.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Possess basic knowledge of computer systems and has basic computer skills.
- Understand and possess personal values of integrity, honesty, self-esteem, recognition, and achievement.
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, with personnel in the department and system users.
- Flexibility to adapt to rapidly changing conditions and emergency situations.
Required Education and/or Experience
- High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- No experience needed.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to use a telephone, keyboard and computer screen for extended periods.
- Ability to read and analyze information on paper and computer systems.
Work Environment
- Limited contact with other staff and frequently works alone in the building.
- Typical workdays are Monday through Friday, 7:00 P.M. – 10:00 P.M. Occasionally, hours outside 7:00 P.M. – 10:00 P.M. may be required for emergencies or other situations that arise.
